Transmission Interrupted

I awake with a sudden shock

Yanked from the deepest reaches of sleep

My head is swirling with dizziness

I tense up with anxiety

I'm laying in a puddle of sweat

My movement's constricted,

But I can't feel anything holding me down

It feels as if my head is open for examination,

As if my ideas are not my own,

As if my thoughts are controlled

The sensation doesn't make sense

My pupils dilate and scan the room for answers

Everything just as it was left,

But the atmosphere is eerie

Muffled voices converse behind me

Fear shoots through my body

The voices get louder,

Like they're panicking

I feel a pinch in my skin,

Then I see nothing

I’m awakened again to my alarm this time,

Unscathed and with a clear head,

But I've no time to reflect on last night

I can't be late for work
