The Agency (Insight)

The Agency is a six-part series I am currently working on. Since I was a kid, comics and superheroes have run rampant in my imagination. For years, characters and stories I created have unfolded in my head. I have hundreds of characters that I’ve created, complete with lore, story arcs and even a multiverse. Pulse was my first attempt at writing for this world and writing in the superhero genre. With The Agency, I wanted to go bigger, introducing characters and a solidified narrative in a six-part story, with each part being told from another character’s perspective. I tried to write flawed, likable characters that are grounded to start off with, before I introduce cosmic powerhouses in my broader expansion of the universe. Hopefully, this is just the beginning and I can bring more of these stories and characters to life in the near future. One of the things I want to avoid as much as possible in this genre is origin stories, which is why I decided to kind of insert the reader midway through this world. It’s why most of the characters in this universe got their powers in a similar way, the activation of a gene that is inside all humans. I believe it’s a better approach to start in an established world and if you’d like, revisit origins with flashbacks. I believe this to be especially true since origin stories have become somewhat oversaturated with the popularity of superheroes.
