Witching Hour (Insight)

Witching Hour is a poem that explores a real-life experience I had quite often when I worked at the movie theaters. It was not uncommon of me to work a closing shift, and this meant I wouldn’t get off of work until around 2:00 am sometimes, couple that with a 15-minute drive and I would get home very late. At the time of writing this, I lived in a town house with limited parking, so almost every night I would need to park in the street, about a minute walk. The neighborhood was dark and quiet, and I would feel uneasy as I walked the lonely street. My eyes would dart from window to window as I imagined people watching me, paranoia got the best of me. One night in particular stands out, when a German Shepard came out suddenly from the shadows, I had a split second to react, and I kneeled down to pet it. Lucky for me, the dog was well-behaved and gladly accepted my offer of friendship. I hope you enjoy reading Witching Hour by Daniel Peiffer.
