Movie Night
I saved a seat for you,
At the theater we can watch our dreams come true
You still haven't shown up
I just figure traffic is responsible for the hold up
I got some Mike and Ikes
They're sweet and I know that's the candy you like
The movie started,
But I'm uninterested, you're where my heart is
Others crowd the seats
I've kept yours empty, you'd be proud of me
They keep asking
More and more people harass me as time passes
Tired of the questioning
Check my phone but no new text messages
I’m getting shooshed
It’s hard to focus when my chair keeps being pushed
They're kicking my seat
The movie's almost over but you're nowhere to be seen
My popcorn has spilled
My cup's emptied and it's too small for a refill
Someone took your seat
I'm lost in a sea of strangers surrounding me
The final scene proceeds
Everyone is on the edge of their seat, including me
Tense with suspense
At last the end credits commence
The screen goes black
The lights come up and I turn to the person kicking my back
It's you.
I feel an instant rage burning inside me, but, it's you
There must be a reason
You whisper to me “You’re just a screening”
I can’t believe it, but as you leave
You ask if we can do it again next week,
And of course, I agree
