Fire & Ice (Insight)

Fire & Ice is essentially two wizards having a rap battle as they cast spells at one another. I’ve always loved the competitive aspect of Hip-hop, so I’ve been a fan of battle rap for many years now. From KOD to Epic rap battles of history, I’ve seen a bit of everything. I wanted to keep the magic and spells simple since I knew the complexity of the rhyming would need to be top tier and. The wizards mostly cast one spell at a time while hurling insults so I could focus on the lyrical content and create rapid pace rhyme schemes. Because of this, this poem was incredibly fun to write and was very hard to pick a winner in the end, so I had them sort of tie in an open-ended manner. This piece took multiple drafts, as the first one I wrote didn’t feel mean enough and lacked a good number of insults. Keep an eye out for a possible round 2 that could be coming soon. I hope you enjoy reading Fire & Ice by Daniel Peiffer.
