Fish Bowl

They think I don’t notice

Slowly the clock ticks

The anticipation is electric

I know my bones buried beneath are batteries

I am fully on display

Your regularly scheduled program continues

I am nothing but a variable

A product of remote control

Emotions configured like circuits

You think I don’t notice?

Freedom is sold to me as an allowance

I know.

I see the gears grind like clockwork

The world is set into motion,

But only when it’s supposed to

Every meticulous detail is carefully calculated

Circles in a fishbowl

They just change the scenery while I’m distracted

Every direction is the same way

They think I don’t notice,

But the only real option is to comply
